My Personal Learning Network

A PLN (Personal Learning Network) is describing a social network that teaches students to be listeners and give feed back, that every opinion is accepted. In EDM 310 I have learned numerous of skills to accommodate with teaching. Social network cites as an facebook, blogging or twittering excites me the most for student education, because students already consider it a state of their own where they can create their own classroom and curriculum that is more interesting so why not accommodate as a educational tool. In these social networks students are able to exchange ideas and answers question. Designs of student pages will show their personality for social networks that enables you to modify page. By me enabling this PLN with facebook, twittering, or blogger I'm able to communicate with other teachers exchange different teaching techniques.

Bye Bye Edm 310

Yes,it's finally over!!!!!!! But, no Dr. Strange I really enjoyed of learning all the free the things their are available for even better use in the educational field. Dr. Strange taught me that theirs nothing wrong with an mistake no one is perfect and to be a listener. I also enjoyed putting the things that are fun and connecting them with educational use of teaching techniques. As of different social networks and gmail. The one thing I regret doing was not be able to use the Google earth I was really excited about using it, it seemed neat. One of things I can change would be how Dr. Strange wonders off into space as he goes in great details of some lectures and loses the class, but no Dr. Strange is still one of the coolest professors South Alabama.

Project 11

Me Jamrcus, Jessica, and Marissa teamed up together to explain the difference between teacher tube and you tube theirs really not much difference both are the same. However, you tube enables you to much more explicit things up and a variety of different videos can viewed and uploaded. Teacher Tube is more mostly for teachers and learners can come connect to upload or view teaching styles in videos of educational standards.

Seven Stupid Mistakes and New Classroom Rules

One of my favorite statements from Seven Stupid Mistakes article was the 4th one that people think their conversation online are private. It's very interested know that our school e-mails can be requested and must be produced if germane to any federal lawsuits and even e-mail deleted from your computer still sits on servers somewhere often for a very long time.
The second statement that was cool to hear was the first statement, because you will think a teacher will be prepare to have data place somewhere else in case of something terrible was to happen. It brings out the difference between rookie teachers and vet teachers, but I wouldn't necessarily call them stupid it's more amusing.
In this article Doug Johnson shows us that people don't think before they do anything they just react without judging. The article is very helpful to rookie teachers for they want follow up under none of these categories.
Click Here To Read More of The Stupid Mistakes by Doug Johnson

Well in the New Classroom Rules article its basically a transformation from grade school to college. Reason why is the things that's not highlighted in front of the sentence mostly going be rules from grade school. Now being that college most treat college students like adults and less stricter than grade schools everything that's highlighted in green at the end of the sentence.
For example, statement 3 leave your seat only when necessary, which should be often to go collaborate with others or demonstrate something to the class. In grade school your teacher don't want you move without their permission, but in college you can do as you please and may often do a lot of group activities to show working skills.
Another example, is statement 4 bring required materials, including your laptop and cell phone every day. Materials are usually pencil and paper for grade school, but for college you need your lab-top and some classes may require cell phone. So , for more reading's of New Classroom Rules Click Here

2.0 Profeffseional Teachers Collaborating

I think it's great to see and here these teachers being able to collaborate on Ideas and spread details about different worldwide events as an the Fundred Project. The gadgets use are no different from our class blogs to me. Main difference is that teachers faithfully use as like their journal to write their experience and share with other teachers.

One of the post that stood out to me was the teacher used twitter a social network to help a sick teacher, because she didn't know what to give that teacher students to do in class when they were done with their assign work. This was very quick thinking from the teacher because from her putting that on twitter she was able to get plenty of response in seconds and that shows you why all teachers needs to be tech literate.

Skype was also shared in some of the posts that enables students and teachers to communicate across the country easier, which I have the pleasure of using in Dr. Strange Edm 310 class. I find it's very helpful not even just to talk across the country, but even just to use as simple phone. A main reason is because it's free and long as you and your partner have the program skype your conversation is free, so I really appreciate Dr. Strange for introducing me to this for I can use in my future classroom to show my class something cool.

Toward A New Future of Whatever - Michael Wesch

New media is a good way to speak and to help you find out more about yourself. The quotes that were presented earlier in years about different events of the past in Mr. Wesc video still can fit with present events that happen in today's time frame.

Mr.Wesc gives a good example of a new media technology as use when people blog, facebook, twitter, youtube, and other different social networks that people are not talking to actual people but their speaking through a camera or computer in their privacy. I know for me as example when I have to stand up in front of my class and speak I'm very nervous and sometimes find myself forgetting words and stuttering. However, on facebook being that billions of people can acknowledge what I do I'm a fool without shyness and I just think Mr.Wesc made a true point how these new medias can help emerge to change the world towards the future in many different languages as he stated in this world to do especially with youtube.

Important for students to post work from blogs

Students need to be able to give different examples of whats going on what they are talking about or viewing to be sure they comprehend the right idea out of it. Then you never you might need to reflect back on to your information for future references. Other, can also look at a students blog for help they might need with the same problem or an idea and the student blog might be a good tool for them to reflect to.

Randy Paucsh lecture was a very good resourceful speech for young kids and adults. He let everyone know don't be afraid to live your dreams and don't let your kids be afraid to mess up in life, this video was seen in youtube and teacher tube also have plenty more videos about different teaching techniques and others professors lectures who you can refer back to.

Ipods is another good resourceful electronic device that enables you to do things without even carrying around a lab top or paying a phone bill. Students need to speak more of Ipods because many people don't realize how helpful they can be use as Duke students used them in the classroom.CLICK HERE for further Duke Info

Blogging to the little kids is very helpful to them and us as future teachers it kind of gets ready for real world working with small children and the students enjoy talking to us. We feel much more as a role model because they working their selves up where we are and by us conversation with them and responding we give them initiative that college isn't so bad that they can make it. Students from different parts of the country can also have a lot to learn from each other seems to different techniques all over the world and this just another way to learn many things.

Dear Kaia

Kaia shares a very interesting story with us about her love for nature with the company of her father for quality. Because of him reading "The Last Child in The Woods" inspired him of the time he need to spend with his daughter and teach her how to cherish the outside of nature. Kaia understands why her father pushes this knowledge of outside and is eager to learn.
Without use of technology Kaia wouldn't be able to be touch from people across the world admiring her story. More of technology should be brought out in the school system because its just so much more out their that children are just far from. Kaia photo essay was good for her first I never heard of such a thing, she will be able to keep and cherish that for her life. As she continue to create photo essay she can compare her first for improvement.

Burping As In Animal

I commented on Brandon from Mr.Goerend's class, he was speaking about how he enjoys burping like an animal and how its a special day on May 1st just for burping how teachers have pop and students get pop just to burp he name this day IBLAAD which stands for Internal Burp Like A Animal Day. I've told him I do enjoy burping but i don't have that much experience for burping as an animal, but since its a special day for burping do we have excuse ourselves after we burp. New Media Literacies

New Media Literacies are very helpful in this world today because of people coming from consumers but becoming producers of their own. All skills are 21st century able because the skills happen not only in class room but everyday life so skills that you use for this can also be use for everyday life. I would require all of these skills to be used, but the one I would close attention to is play because you have to be able play around with it and master it like the ole saying "practice makes Perfect."
Visualization also plays a big role its the same as teaching yourself. I find it easier to be visual learner. Because by you being able to teach yourself it will be very help for you to explain it and break it down to others. Multitasking is always being able to do more than one things is always a plus because when doing a job in the real world you have to be multitask ed I feel this good preparation.

Networked Student By Wendy Drexler

This video was nice very understandable a networked student is very help too have, because some students cannot keep up with teachers and the students that is paying attention can help get the person caught up for the teacher want have disrupt the curriculum that much.
The networked student will always need a teacher because that don't know everything and everyday and every minute is a learning process for the student. A networked student don't mind having to ask question too strengthen their knowledge even more.
I felt this video can be very helpful to students and teachers too learn more about how important is too be more technology literate in the world today. Too use this technology with 8th graders too me is sort of late I believe kids need to be introduce to in elementary and gradually learn more as they grow. From previous site watching kids being able to control ipods and mange blogs they can do it.
Let's Go Visit

Richard Miller Comments of This is How We Dream Parts 1 and 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHvoBPjhsBA

Mr.Miller video was good I enjoyed it. I believe Mr. Miller is correct when says we living in the greatest lifetime of communication. Beings so that we are able to connect with people in a instinct second. I also believe we need the incremental change just as much as the fundamental change, because in this lifetime to be a successful college student you need to be available to as computer.
To be a successful teacher in this world these days to me or do anything world you have to be able to keep up with technology and be a learner not only a teacher. Be able to accept mistakes, because you not going to know everything. So long as I got this down pack I'm prepared to write with multimedia all day.
My students will be familiar with multimedia hopefully by then the system will realize how important the different technology program accessories is for students that Mr. Miller recommended. If I believe I would have enough patience to push my students in the right direction.

Inspiration of Ipods

In 2004 semester Duke issued all new students their very own ipod and for undergraduates if they took a course that made them need one. Adapting to this new way of learning have allowed kids to be able to learn anything and make them want to know more about different technology on their own. By having ipods their at the school it makes it easier for students to take learning outside the classroom, because ipod is just like personal computer.CLICK HERE for further Duke Info

iTunes University Presentation

iTunes U is very helpful for anybody not only just college students it's very good search engine for students with projects because they can search for it in itunes. iTunes is also free, podcasting and vcasting is another helpful tool for teachers to deliberate a lesson without being in class. The vcasting is good way for presentations on online classes for students.
So as i read from the presentation available for the facts of my knowledge of itunes U I learned that this is best for me too use as a student and teacher, because this is free and im just able to do so much with itunes U as well as download music, videos , and movies so I recommend this to anyone. SO CLICK HERE FOR ITUNES U INTRO KNOWLEDGE

Dr.Christies's site

I believe the use of internet is a very useful idea in the classroom. So, that's why the kids at a young age need to be familiar with different ideas of the internet sites that's available for use as Dr. Alice Christie says. I believe the ask kid website is very helpful for kids they can collaborate with school work and can visit different sites about different movies, video games, and other galleries all in this one site. It's also spit up by age group so it's really good site for teens also.Take a visit!! askkids.com

I another help kid website that Dr. Christie had available is factmonster.com its very also its more useful for research projects with kids it has all the different subjects for school and it has different icons you can touch for the subjects. It's more children made that why it seems so helpful for kids because sometimes encyclopedia might be too difficult for kids with the choice of words. So check it out right here factmonster.com

Keiana Blog from Mrs. Kathy Class

Keiana said this week about her they are learning how to read and write I was just telling her that when it get tougher don't give up just keep on trying into you get it. She also was saying how she loves school and gym, so I consider she might be little athlete.

Beasely Broadcast

I had comments from 3 to 5 counting down they were very good I was amazed about hear second grade students twitter that was amazing to get children that young to be cooperate with it.
Then another podcast kids explaining the correct techniques of kickball it was cute and funny because they were saying things that you would at least expect to hear about, but well worth knowing.
Another podcast was about children being good to animals treating them with respect and how to treat them. It was very good because at the young age they realize animals have rights just as well as humans and they need to be treated with care and respect.

I commented on Cody M blog from Mr.Goerend's class on 9/22/09. He had wrote about his first time riding his dirt bike, he used a lot of good adjectives too describe his experience. I had said how my parents would of never had let me did nothing like that even probably now.

Comments of "What Learn This Year "by Mr.McClung

Mr.McClung makes pretty good points of becoming effective teacher. But, one that mostly stands out to me is "Be flexible", because new teachers seemed to want to go directly by the book and want everything to go by plan. Because of all students don't learn the same way its pretty hard to stay on task since probably you have to stop and catch a student up and break it down more clearer. The simple message he's pushing is No Lesson is perfect take your time the goal is to make the students understand and comprehend not for the teacher to had the best plan.

Wired Story

Wikipedia can be trusted and can be not be trusted it has ups and downs. But, for the most part I believe I can be trusted. That's why i think Virgil Griffith creation Wikipedia Scan was an great creation since you can find the fraud through the IP address. But for the most part I don't believe the Wikipedia should just be cut off, because it is still a good reliable source.
Now since Griffth have prove that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone and things can be deleted at anytime without the use of being fact-checked of no kind. Being that Griffith was trying to prove the point of big organizations or companies make false advertisement or going back to reword things, so this Wikipedia scanner came about from him and he made it easier way for we are able to tell false information because its like an backspace that goes back to the last computer who did the edit.

Randy Pausch's Lecture

This was a very good video and inspirational speech he delivered his message really good. He also, kept the crowd into it with different little jokes. For a man knowing he is about to die that took alot of courage. He made it pretty clear that he love his technology and playing around with things to learn more. Mr. Pausch was very big believer in fulfilling your childhood dreams the video was made his kids.
Mr.Pausch really encourages experimenting with things and always drive yourself to learn more as a child would. He believe in we can learn alot from a child by not being strict on them don't worry over material things. He wanted his kids to know they can be anything they wanted to be just pursue it and believe you can do it don't let anyone hold you down.
The video was sad because he knew he was going to die, but he wouldn't never said anything from listening to the speech of him with the energy he had and the positive energy he gave the crowd you would of never thought he was dying. This video I would recommend everyone to watch for encouragement.

Karl fisch: is It Okay to Be A Technologically Illiterate teacher?

I agree Mr. Fisch I believe every teacher should be literate of that a teach should be computer literate, because although some teachers a computer literate, this like what read about from Mrs. Hines saying a teacher should be a good listener and learner. Its embarrassing when a child knows how to work an computer better than an adult. Welll, by using the technology the kids will already be excited will be more operative on the learnin that's bout to begin

"It's Not About the Technology" by Kelly Hines

This article are really useful to first year teachers, because they feel like they be have to do something new or fun and cool for the kids, when all comes down they have to be able to teach, because with the use of technology some kids still can get misguided and left behind in the learning progress of the certain curriculum. Therefore, teachers have be good teachers in order to the perfect success to their kids because all students learn at different levels.
Teacher must be good learner that was another good statement Mrs. Hines made; meaning in my opinion is teachers can learn a lot from others and research. In order of being a good listener the teacher must first be a good observer and look around to be able criticism. Teachers shouldn't be afraid on to ask another teacher about different message they use to through their students if it's successful.

Michael Wesch: A Vision of Students Today

I understand the point they were connecting to with technology and school learning. This video was cool too me and fascinating it was like one of them truth videos about smoking. In my opinion the point was that children seem to learn more with new modern stuff that seem interesting. For example it my not be many teenagers or young people who will buy a newspaper, but they will rather read about online or through their email. It's also telling kids to be more serious in school, if you gone be deck and you are not coming to class you're not doing but wasting your time and others.
I would of added to the video an example of how kids can be taught with the modern technology using facebook, emails and others. I also, would push the high cost of the books and barely ever used them in the semester. Other than that this video touch a lot of key spots and was very clear. Because how you know what the class learn, when the wall can't talk only the class can tell you. That's being a teacher you have to be open minded to be able to connect with kids to get their mind thinking, so putting modern technology with learning is such an good idea..

How Technology is used in Classess at USA

I really like their topic, it was more interesting to me. Everyone that attends to South have experience some technology that they are not use to. Then you might run into an older person that went to the University years ago and wonders to do South still do some of the same things and you tell them they have created new and easier ways for that, they just be so amazed. Everything they said in this podcast was good, but to me it just started to get a little boring I know mines might probably be boring also. I also, think they stated some good facts especially with how the teacher can bring the grades up with students jag number. Even though it's so simple and easy that shows how technology have came along way from writing grades on paper.
What would of done is interviewed earlier South graduates on their experience with the old ways before the invention of the new technology and hear their opinions how South have improved. Then when can begin a little talk session like an talk show and we all can put our experiences together.

My Itunes Podcast

I really found all my things by just going to the search enginge in itunes and just searching with the names we were giving I found that to be more easier. It seems to me for the SmartBoard Lessons Podcast, thats these two teachers Ben and Joan are trying to portray to us how simple it is to used podcast for teaching or communicate with one another who are not even by each other. They are also displaying, that it can be done in seconds. By them just putting together this show on their lunch. If I was to used the audio podcast i would use it rather to give directions on to explain to do something like an walk through setup. SmartBoard Learning Lesson can be in the same category with Connect Learning episode 91 because of the debates with information of podcast for students only difference is that Connect Learning is more about librarians, but to me it was more interesting. Joan idea was also mentoined in the Connect Learning video about the Ipod shuffles for the students.
KidsCast was very cute, because its basically saying kids are never to young to learn different things or technology and thats good. The sound of this little kid who was sounding like he's about 5 and 6 can barely talk, but he did good. That shows again that audio podcast can't be to hard to do; but sometimes in this lazy society we live in today make the simplest thing hard if it's not pointed out to us.
In the Edtalk chat is something needed for all teachers to participate in, because not all teachers are good teachers and some teachers probably are unconfidence with their teaching skills. Many teachers are willing to learn different ideas to reach out to children or just wanted hear what other teachers are going through at their school. It' more like a facebook for teachers that you can hear on a live radio station on the computer.
With Macbreak and This Week in Photography giving you all the updates is like giving you a free magazine and you get a leak of everything that's new in technology that is coming soon. It reminds me of sportcenter radio listening to all the rumors around the sports world of different trades. These shows also tells you the garbage mechandise and the stuff that's needed to get for customers who don't read from these guys opinion that actually use it and are educated in it.
So, I see podcast as very productive and can be used all over the world to do all types of things to speak to the world and share ideas. Before this class I had know clue what podcast was, because this whole time i been using itunes for music only. I wish I would of known the knowledge of podcast, because its a easier way to connect with the world and to do research.

Vicki Davis Digital Smarts

I like the teaching method Mrs. Davis uses whith the children its like a replay of everything Dr. Strange said to us in class the first day. She uses the computers to get the kids excited and eager to learn something different, but basically its the same. It gets kids to read by blogging kids who dont even like to read . By her introdcuing thes new programs to these students and by them just getting in these groups brainstorming together and figuring out that's lesson learned right their for life in the real world; being able to work with others to slve problems.
Mrs. Davis does not only help the children with this method, but she also help her self. By helping her self these kids come in and give her ideas about something and putit in a different way how she never would of thought about it. Kids seems to grow in bigger detail with something they have a passion for. By being a college student this a good training class to be in if you plnned on goin to college, because don't know nothing about in computer you are pretty much screwed.

Ken Robinson

I agree with Mr. Robinson creativity is the key in every child to learn, because every child is different in their on way. That same creavity that these children have can help U.S. technology or any field not neccesary technology. Who knows what the world would be like 5 years from now, because I beleive what Mr. Robinson is saying we shouldn't teach our kids for now we should teach them what to expect tommorow, because we don't even know what tommorow would be like talking about 5 years.
So, things students learn in schools now want even be use when they get out of college or in the real world on the job they have been in training for. That's why having children do something they love to pursue rather than forcing them to do something, because its very hard learn something you have no intrest. The kids are our future and with all these opportunities in technology you have be creative and have good imagination.

Did you konw 3.0

Technology grows and grows, i never would of thought inetrnet would of made it this far from the first time using my dial up. Things are getting so simpler now of days to probably in a couple of years all you gon have to do is snap a finger. I always dream of living like the cartoon the Jetson it may be coming soon as we think , but slower.
This video gives you alot of knowledge of stuff you don't know and things you already know because it seems to be so small and simple. As for example when it stated about 1 of 2 work for their employer for about year that's true because people want the easy money just want to do nothing 15$ an hour. By me being a teacher and have intrest in technology to learn more I want to be able to teach my kids how far we have came with the internet and computers and installing in them their is much more to be done but its not goin hit you in the face.

Mr. Winkle Wakes

I like this, short film because its funny how life can go so fast. Because I laugh at my parents teasing at how computer illeterate they are because they don't know how to use simple things on a computer, but as years past by if i don't keep up with technology i can be laught at also. Because I can barely keep up with an iphone.

A bit about me

Im a physical education major, this is now my junior year here at South Alabama. I have aassociate degree from Bishop State Community College in Computer Information Systems. I'm a full-time employee at Wal-mart of the beltline better known as the ghetto wal-mart.
